Hi all,

We are sorry to disappoint but we dont have enough internet time to do a full blog (not at the internet rates over here anyway!). So we thought we'd just put a few photos up from our last month in asia. We'll definitely be back with a proper blog when we hit NZ!

Philippines and Thailand round 2

Sorry about the lack of blog, we've been too busy getting amazing tans :). We will pick up where we left off in Sipalay in the philippines. Adam wanted me to put a pic of him and his scuba hero Mark, our instructor, below. (left of picture) We spent about a week there in which time we passed our PADI open water so we can now go scuba diving anywhere in the world!

From Sipilay we caught a 5h bus down the coast followed by a 2h Ferry over to an Island called Siquijor. The Island has a spooky past and many Philippinos still refuse to visit the island due to its association with magic and spiritual healing! Sijour is undoubtedly the most remote location we have visited so far. Very few tourists visit the island and I think we were somewhat of a novelty. Particularly when driving a moped around the Island. People were literally coming out of their houses to come and wave and shout hello! We explored the island on 2 wheels and stumbled across a really nice waterfall, only accessible by traversing some dodgy terrain and a few slippery slopes.

We also wanted to make sure we could actually dive after doing our certificate, so we booked to dive with a local dive shop. It was slightly different to our earlier experience, as we went out to the dive spot in the tiniest little boat so we had to put our kit on in the water and also our instructor couldn't have been over 18 and took us almost 10 metres below how deep we were meant to be diving! Slightly nerve wracking but luckily we survived and it was really lovely...the fish and coral were really colourful, i wish i could show you some pics but dont think my camera could handle deep sea diving :)

Lovely deserted beach, apart from a few fisherman!

From Sijour we then had 2 solid days travel, including an over night sleep at Singapore Airport, to reach our next destination - Koh Phi Phi in Thailand. Here we made a good friend Mr Ginger the cat who would guard our room every evening - free of charge! You cannot come to Phi Phi without visiting 'The Beach' which bears some resemblance to the film + a huge number of tourists and boats which takes the shine off it but I guess it is to be expected given its status! Had another incident with bedbugs, but this time we actually found some so luckily changed rooms and haven't seen any since.

After a short boat ride we reached the next destination, another Thai Island called Railay. This area is famous professional rock climbing and beach lazing (no guess which one we did!) Twice a day a large family of monkeys would make their may to one of the beaches in search of food and mischief. One particular money attempted to untie our bag and have a rummage around. Luckily we managed to get the bag away just in time.

Beaches, Beaches, Kuala Lumpur and then some scuba!

We left you in Vietnam over Christmas, so we will pick up from there! Phu Quoc is a wonderful Island best explored on a moped - So thats exactly what we did. Hiring a bike for 2 days (10 dollars a day, bargain) we careered around the Island, stopping off at deserted beaches for a quick dip followed by the odd bar for a light refreshment or a rum and coke(not for the driver)! As you can see from the photos we both look mighty cool on the moped :) especially on returning home to discover both our faces were pretty much red with dust....Evil Kanevil eat your heart out!

KUALA LUMPAR

From deserted beaches and a laid back vibe we headed to KL for NYE. First stop were the iconic Patronas twin towers, think Mission Impossible 3 (according to adam anyway). We arrived at 11am to find tickets for the joining bridge had sold out at 6:30am (missed the boat there) so instead we headed for the KL communications Tower which is actually taller and allows for a panoramic view of the city. On the way we saw LANA written on a wall - naturally, we took a picture.

Petronas Towers

NYE we headed to Ministry Of Sound to hang out with one of Adam's music friends. The club gave Adam a microphone which was a bad idea! I had to physically remove it from him at one point, as they had asked him to say one line and 10 minutes later he was still going!

Adam on the Mic - G'ing up the crowd, again!

After the hangover had cleared we headed to Boracay in the Philippines - . The beaches have pure white sand and there are more bars and restaurants and fatty old foreigners with young philippino women than you can shake a stick at!  We basically lazed around, drank a fair few rum and cokes and san miguels and then after 4 days moved on again to the island of Negros.

White Beach at Boracay

We  then headed to Sugar Beach in Sipilay. Here we did the scuba open water certificate which was amazing and our instructor Marc was a seriously cool swiss heavy metal fan, we learned to navigate underwater (not sure i would trust adam with a compass anytime soon) we saw tons of coral and fish. We even saw a little fish cleaning an eels teeth amd nemo fish (not sure of their real name) which were the highlight for me! Anyway were now in dumagete and just going to leave to go to an island called siqijour. Another update to follow soon...
